In 1816, 20 year old Patrick Murphy set out from Ireland on a schooner named The Dudley for a new life in the new world. In 1820 he settled in the wilderness along Fredricks Cove on Prince Edwards Island. With his bare hands he cleared the land and started a farm. He married a widow, Bridget A’Hearn and they had two children of their own. Seven generations later, his family spans from coast to coast and can be counted in the hundreds.
The property Patrick settled upon. From the 1881 P.E.I. Atlas, at the time owned by his son Joseph.
